Within Rotary, the International Avenue of Service
sets out to:
Seek
to help alleviate malnutrition, ill health and deprivation in the
international community
and
encourage goodwill and fellowship between Rotarians in different
countries.
In
Rayleigh Mill we actively support both these objectives. In recent
years we have provided funds for a number of international charities,
including:
-
Survive Miva, to help purchase a 4 wheel
drive ambulance for a Mission in Ecuador to take people from local
villages across difficult terrain to hospital in the nearest city.
-
Life Through Water. for the digging of bore wells in Southern India to
provide fresh water to small villages.
We have also responded to appeals to help alleviate suffering caused
around the world by natural disasters:
-
Hurricane Mitch storm damage in Honduras. We funded the purchase of a
filtration unit which provides
30,000 litres of clean water.
-
Kosovo Appeal to help refugees forced
out of their country into camps in Albania.
-
Turkish Earthquake Appeal - to provide
food, shelter, clothing and medicines.
-
Asian
tsunami - provide shelter and water purification equipment.
